I have been playing LoD quite intensively (500+ games) as of late, and wanted to suggest a few things based on my observations on random pubs, mostly the mode was balance on 4 skills 2 ultimates single draft.
First of all, caster builds suck. Any given game, out of 10 players like 8-9 will be carries/tanks, rarely will 1 of the players be an int-based hero, and even then, that usually means glaives of wisdom/impetitius/arcane orb based carry.
The absolute main reason for this is berserkers blood - you can make a caster build, tauren chieftain/talon queen passive (the only passives that help casters on the offense, as opposed to the 9001 passives that help carries), 3-4 solid nukes and, say, multicast....Only to be useless vs some braindead 6 passive build, that only picked berserkers blood for the attackspeed, not even realising they would counter nukes as well.
It would be better if more solid skills had pure damage, as it is now, the only pure damage skill that is often worth taking is laser. Purification requires melee range, charkam is buggy as hell (often makes you lose control for 5-10s), meat hook is unreliable and has no good secondary effect, and so on. A good solution would be making either eblade or dagon pure damage.
Moving on, attacks rarely suffer due to balance, and nothing stops you from rearm+reincarnate with dispersion and return and so on, while many spells are weaker - light strike array has longer cooldown, rearm doesn't work with many spells and so on. Spells needs serious buffing, not nerfing, for balance.
Another issue is that carries/tanks have far superior staying power, thanks to their core items having +hp/strength, many passives (dispersion/backtrack/flesh heap/true form/lifesteal) offering survivability and so on. The closest casters can get is death pulse + purification spam, and both are not even good midgame without multicast. I believe octarine core should be introduced, or something else, to help casters along.
Another major problem is how carry builds can do their dps 24/7 or close, if they rely on alchemist ulti/lycan ulti/something else with a duration. Meanwhile most caster builds have to rely on the cooldown of ultimate to do anything.
The only currently viable way I see to play casters, is to load 3-4 disables, rest into survivability, and lock down enemies for your teammates. Or you can just get duel+chrono and 4 dps passives and to that 100x better with far deadlier results, and be able to push towers too.
Casters really need some love.
